On November 1st 2022, CMS released its 2023 Medicare Physician Fee Schedule Final Rule. In it, CMS confirms that RTM will be changing from direct supervision to general supervision starting January 1st, 2023.

One of the major differences between the proposed rule and final rule, was the proposal to create four new G-Codes to replace 98980 and 98981 for RTM Treatment Management Services.  CMS dropped this proposal and decided to go with a simpler approach of keeping the current RTM billing code structure but allowing billing under general supervision.

This is a welcome sign for Chronic Care Management and Remote Patient Monitoring companies thinking about deploying a Remote Therapeutic Monitoring (RTM) program in 2023.
